Star Wars Essay – Archetypes?
I’m writing an english essay on the movie Star Wars- a New Hope. I have only seen the movie once, with the class, and I found no interest in it, leading me to get really confused and stuff.
The purpose of this essay is to explain how the characters in star wars are similar to the characters in a fairytale, using archetypes. For example, I’m using Luke Skywalker (the hero), Darth Vader (the villain) and Obi Wan (the wiseman). I’m not having any problems with the first point, but when it comes to comparing these characters to fairytale characters, I’m not finding any that I find suitable. For the villain, I am comparing Darth Vader to Lord Voldemort from Harry Potter, as they share many similarities. (killed main character’s relatives, non-human, no conscience, killer…etc.) I need to find similar relationships between for Luke and Obi Wan. Can anyone help out?
Also, if anyone could give me any good supporting quotes I could use, I’d appreciate that too.
