Microsoft Promise No More Red Rings On Xbox
It would seem that Microsoft has released a new version of the 360 that seems to have fixed the problems. The real question that needs to be asked here is, why on earth wasn’t it fixed sooner?
The console came out in November of 2005 and it was clear that it came with problems when the first lot of people started to see the red rings of death. What happens is the normal green lighting at the front turns red and when three pop up its control throwing time. You cannot use the console again until you send it off to be repaired.
Microsoft has had just over four years to fix the problem and only recently this year just started to ship new consoles with the fix. Why did it happen in the first place?
Well basically as the console got hotter it would start to melt the soldering iron on the top of one of the major components. The rings of death are called so because you cannot fix the console without sending it off if you see these. If you wrap up the console in a cold towel then you can put a short fix on the problem but it will return to you in the near future. This will actually cool down the console. This is only meant to fix the console for a very short amount of time so you will indeed have to send it off at some point.
I am really not sure on why Microsoft have taken such a long time to actually go out and fix this huge problem as it is costing them a lot of money.
So whether it was the cable ties, Deutsch connectors or of course the electrical components at least they have fixed it.
