Your Swiss Army Maverick II Watch 24135
Victorinox (Swiss Army) is the most respected knife and watch manufacture in the world. In 1884, entrepreneur Karl Elsener started his company in Ibach-Schwyz Switzerland. Karl started his own cutler’s business which became very successful. It was 1891 that Karl supplied the Swiss Army with the wanted soldier’s knives. The Swiss Army Knife was coined after the Second World War when the PX stores of the US Army, Air Force and Marines sold the ‘Swiss Officer’s Knife’ to their soldiers and officers. The Swiss Army Watches were launched with amazing results in 1989 into the US market place. The Swiss Army 24135 Maverick II Watch is manufactured by Victorinox. Starting in 1992, Victorinox did open sales branches in Japan followed by locations as Brazil, Poland, Chile, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Mexico, and London in later years.
The Swiss Army Maverick II is a swiss analogy quartz movement watch made in Switzerland. The numerals on the black dial watch are bold white for ease of viewing. The elapse time bezel does rotate in one direction (unidirectional) and utilizes a stainless steel case and screw in caseback. The watch includes the date function at the four o’clock position and the amazing markers and luminous hands for night viewing. The synthetic rubber strap is constructed for longevity and shows the swiss army cross and shield log molded into the band. The awesome swiss army watch is water resistant to 100 meters or 330 feet.
Sapphire and mineral crystals are the materials that are recommended for most watches. The Swiss Army Maverick II Watch uses a sapphire crystal that is more scratch resistant and much harder than mineral type crystals Acrylic and even glass should be avoided because there performance ratings are not as great as the sapphire amd mineral crystals. Acrylic and glass are used for the low end watches. Victorinox stands behind reliability and quality making watch ownership a simple decision.

Blood Trails: The Combat Diary of a Foot Soldier in Vietnam $3.93 BAPTISM BY FIREChris Ronnau volunteered for the Army and was sent to Vietnam in January 1967, armed with an M-14 rifle and American Express traveler’s checks. But the latter soon proved particularly pointless as the private first class found himself in the thick of two pivotal, fiercely fought Big Red One operations, going head-to-head against crack Viet cong and NVA troops in the notorious Iron… |

Fragging: Why U.S. Soldiers Assaulted Their Officers in Vietnam (Modern Southeast Asia Series) $22.00 During its long withdrawal from South Vietnam, the U.S. military experienced a serious crisis in morale. Chronic indiscipline, illegal drug use, and racial militancy all contributed to trouble within the ranks. But most chilling of all was the advent of a new phenomenon: large numbers of young enlisted men turning their weapons on their superiors. The practice was known as fragging,” a referen… |

Patrol: An American Soldier in Vietnam $4.28 Vietnam. A young American soldier waits for his enemy, rifle in hand, finger on the trigger. He is afraid to move and yet afraid not to move. Gunshots crackle in the still air. The soldier fires blindly into the distant trees at an unseen enemy. He crouches and waits — heart pounding, tense and trembling, biting back tears. When will it all be over? Walter Dean Myers joined the army on his seventeeth birthday, at the onset of American involvement in Vietnam, but it was the death of his brother in 1968 that forever changed his mind about war. In a gripping and powerful story-poem, the award-winning author takes readers into the heart and mind of a young soldier in an alien land who comes face-to-face with the enemy. Strikingly illustrated with evocative and emotionally wrenching collages by Caldecott Honor artist Ann Grifalconi, this unforgettable portrait captures one American G.L’s haunting experience. |

Vietnam $31.99 ‘It is the very comprehensiveness of Paul Ham’s blockbuster on Vietnam that is both enticing and chilling to the core …’ Tim Fischer – THE AUSTRALIAN ‘This is unquestionably the best single-author, single-volume history of Australia’s Vietnam war. Ham’s prose is fluent, trenchant, aphoristic.’ Bulletin with Newsweek ‘Surely God weeps,’ an Australian soldier wrote in despair of the conflict in Vietnam. But no God intervened to shorten the years of carnage and devastation in this most controversial of wars. The ten-year struggle in the rice paddies and jungles of South Vietnam unleashed the most devastating firepower on the Vietnamese nation, visiting terrible harm on both civilians and soldiers.Yet the Australian experience was very different from that of the Americans. Guided by their commanders’ knowledge of jungle combat, Australian troops operated with stealth, deception and restraint to pursue a ‘better war’. In reconstructing for the first time the full history of our longest military campaign, Paul Ham draws on hundreds of accounts by soldiers, politicians, aid workers, entertainers and the Vietnamese people. From the commitment to engage, through the fight over conscription and the rise of the anti-war movement, to the tactics and horror of the battlefield, Ham exhumes the truth about this politicians’ war – which sealed the fate of 50,000 Australian servicemen and women. More than 500 Australian soldiers were killed and thousands wounded. Those who made it home returned to a hostile and ignorant country and a reception that scarred them forever. This is their story. |

Vietnam: One Soldier’s Experience $31.76 Vietnam: One Soldier’s Experience is a unique portrayal in the life of a combat soldier who served with one of the Army’s elite units, the 82nd Airborne, during the height of the Vietnam War and his subsequent transition back to mainstream America. Danny Coughlin succeeds in taking the reader on a vicarious journey that allows them to engulf his experiences in a manner that helps bring them to a fuller understanding of the Vietnam War and its aftermath. Mr. Coughlin accomplishes this through the use of various concepts, such as, fear, morals, attitude, race, sex, drugs and uses a multitude of fascinating and eye opening stories that help illustrate these concepts. For example, his illustration of fear, from many different levels, not only leaves the reader with a greater understanding of the emotion but, at times, invokes the emotion in the reader. The Third Brigade of the 82nd Airborne was sent to Vietnam in order to help combat the 1968 Tet Offensive by the Vietnamese. Since only one brigade of the 82nd Airborne was dispatched, a small unit in military terms, the 82nd worked with various units: Marines, Special Forces, 101st Airborne, 1st Calvary, 9th Infantry, 25th Infantry, Vietnamese Regular Army, among others. They were deployed by the military, as needed, to help these units. This enabled the author to see a multi-faceted Vietnam, from the Regular North Vietnamese Army in the mountains near the DMZ to the Viet Cong and rice paddies north and west of Saigon, to the challenge of fighting the enemy in the Mekong Delta, a lowland, wet area, filled with rivers, streams and swamps. The geography and the enemy were not the only distinctions, each American unit had its own attitude, culture, and strategy for combating the enemy. These varied experiences present a body of work that is not evidenced in other stories of this elk *** Editor’s note: Danny Coughlin wrote this book over a dozen years ago but choose not to release it at that time When asked why he released it now, he replied "I used some excerpts from the manuscript in one of my classes and the response was overwhelming. The enthusiasm and thirst for knowledge about the subject brought me to a realization that this is a story that should be told." |
