Star Sapphire
Is there a stone that has the understated luster of a black pearl but is studier?
My boyfriend was looking at engagement rings and came to a dead end when he realized that the pearl ring I wanted was not the type of ring that would be able to withstand day-to-day abuse. We were looking at black star sapphires, but I don’t like how shiny they look or the star in the middle of most of them.
Ask your jeweler if they have anything like that available. 100% correct that pearls and black pearls are very delicate and will not withstand wearing every day. Black Onyx is another black stone and less expensive, but it too is shiny. Maybe you can take some sand paper to it.
Maybe you should think about the meaning of the ring instead of being too picky about the contents of the stones.
