Is there a difference between the blue light saber, green light saber, and the purple light saber?
I was just wondering in Star Wars Mace Windo has a purple light saber, Luke Skywalker has a green light saber, and Obi Wan has a blue light saber so what I was wondering if one is stronger than the other? Are they just different colors because they chose to have them? Just curios!
No difference at all. The focusing crystal in the Lightsabre is what determines the color of the blade and it just so happened that the most plentiful supply of these crystals created only blue and green blades.
The purple blade that Windu uses really doesn’t have much meaning to the story as a whole. When Samuel Jackson signed on to play the role of Mace he asked for two things … first that he be different from the other Jedi in some way and suggested that his lightsabre blade be a different color, Lucas asked him what color Sam said purple and the purple bladed lightsabre was born. The second thing was, knowing that his character would die at some time in the films, that he not get killed off like a b***h thus the monster duel between him and Palpatine.
For the most part the Sith always have a red bladed lightsabre. The only real difference between a Sith built lightsabre and a Jedi built lightsabre is the focusing crystal. The Jedi use natural crystals in theirs while the Sith use synthetic crystals that usually produce a red blade.
Ironically there is an “exception” to both the “only Sith use red blades” & “only Sith use synthetic crystals” and they are found in two of the main characters of the story … Luke & Leia.
There is a book set in between ep V & ep VI titled “Shadows of The Empire” … in this book we get told the story of how Luke built his own lightsabre at Obi-Wan’s hut on Tatoonie … using a synthetic crystal.
For Leia, there is a book series titled the Corellian Trilogy … in the first book of the trilogy Luke gives Leia a lightsabre to confirm her rank as a Jedi Knight. That lightsabre had a red blade.
Just a couple of the little contradictions that pop up in the story …
