It’s that time of year again and toy train sets are once again one of the most sought after gifts. If you’re not familiar with them then we would recommend doing a little research and getting a better understanding. There are two choices you have when purchasing toy train sets; manually operated or battery operated. The one you choose will depend on the individual you’re purchasing it for and how old they are right now.
When you think about toy train sets it’s most likely that electric model railroads come to mind. You have the opportunity to purchase large models that provide a “backyard” type of setting. Then again, you might opt for a smaller version that sits on a desk. Whatever the case may be; it’s a good idea to take a closer look at the o scale train. This option offers individuals units, cars, tracks, scenery, and an engine. You can purchase them in sets, but most of the time people buy them individually and build their collection. However, Ready-to-Run sets are great if you don’t want to spend the time researching. They included locomotives that have features like puffing smoke, whistle sounds, and even operating headlamps. Passenger cars that are lit from the inside, showing the silhouettes of passengers. One important matter to consider is that these are electric powered. While it doesn’t pose a big threat, the transformers are high voltage. If you purchase a toy train set for someone who is too young, like the Lionel Trains Polar Express, they will need supervision just to be safe. We definitely don’t recommend purchasing them for anyone under the age of 3 unless they’re just going to watch from afar. There are several small pieces (especially scenery), so you don’t want to take any chances. Plus, the instructions can be complicated from time to time so it will be important for you to lend a helping hand. It’s also going to take some time to learn how to control the train once everything is ready.
