A Walk With Friends With Canon 60D and 7D Cameras.
My wife says I have plenty cameras, and I guess she is right, but I still crave after the Canon EOS 60D released in 2010.
On a shoot with a few friends the other day I got to play with a Canon 60D and a 7D and was thrilled with both cameras.
The feel of a decent DSLR camera is just in different league to compacts and other snappers. Yes. I do have snappers… on my mobile and a compact but not for getting bragging shots.<_p_>I was comparing the 60D and 7D to my Rebels and to the few Pro models I have played with. Normally I treasure lesser weight because I take my kit on long walks, but I loved the feel of these slightly heavier and larger than my models. One has to experience the rapid fire of 5FPS to appreciate what you get for the money. And the results show in the shots. Subtle differences in facial expressions give you great choices. The 60D did not have the same exhilarating 5PFS but the vari-angel screen and movie features made me want to become a film producer.
Afterwards I examined my photos critically. They were not creative master pieces but there was enough to demonstrate just why one would want such a high FPS…. to capture subtle differences or action series shots… and then have more choice. I imagined I could see the difference of the 18MP sensors over the 15 MP of the T1i, but I am not sure. Maybe in blown up landscapes.
I think the hype to justify the huge price difference of the full frame professional cameras over the APS-C’s is totally overplayed. The quality of APS sensor sizes are as good as the best of the film based SLR’s. If anyone wants to challenge me, I have a reverse challenge.
I would like to find someone who can do it the other way round. Look at a good photograph and tell me whether it was taken with an APS-C or Full Frame DSLR.
Ultimately between the Canon 60D vs 7D I favoured the 60D.
If I did not have a bag full of camera kit already I would rush out and buy the Canon 60D today, but I will have to be satisfied with writing a review on the 60D vs 7D.
