Lets say we gonna send a super satelite in motion around this super duper troper BIG STAR and the scientists wanted to calculate the exact round time
How important is really π?
(Note, I’m approximating 2*pi as 6.28–there are of course infinitely more digits)
1 mile radius = 6.28 mile circumference.
10 mile radius = 62.8 mile circumference.
100 mile radius = 628 mile circumference.
1000 mile radius = 6280 mile circumference.
Seeing the pattern?
However many zeros there are in the radius (for instance, 1,000,000 miles has six zeros), just take 2*pi and move the decimal that many spaces to the right. And you’re done.
How important is pi? It’s one of the most important numbers in all of mathematics, right up there with e (the base of natural logarithms), i (the imaginary unit), one, and zero.
