Star Wars Will Live On Forever
With six blockbuster movies, and countless books, video games, and comic books over a 30 year span, Star Wars is one of the most enduring sci-fi franchises in all of pop culture.The massive number of Star Wars t-shirts available also backs up it’s popularity.
The series envisioned by director George Lucas is set in a distant galaxy with varying alien races and planets living amongst humans.The advent of space travel in the Star Wars universe has allowed interplanetary travel, with many planets in the galaxy joining to form the Galactic Empire.
In 1977, Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope was released, the first of the series.A New Hope was well-received worldwide, and audienced everywhere craved a continuation of the story.In what would become known as the Original Trilogy among Star Wars fans, the fifth and sixth episodes, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi, joined A New Hope.
The Original Trilogy focused on a young farm boy named Luke Skywalker who leaves home and joins a rebel alliance to rescue Princess Leia from Darth Vader and the evil Empire.The crafty Han Solo and his loyal sidekick Chewbacca round out the cast of characters.Along the way, Luke learns about the Force, an energy that can be used by trained Jedis to perform incredible acts of telekinesis, clairvoyance, and even mind control.It’s not uncommon to see avid fans wearing a Star Wars tee featuring many of the characters..
More Star Wars movies were released, this time prequels to the first three movies, or the Prequel Trilogy as it is summed up.The prequels were composed of Episode I: The Phantom Menace, Episode II: Attack of the Clones, and Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.The Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker star in the prequels, crafting a tale of master and pupil that serves as backstory for the Original Trilogy.
The franchise was originally envisioned as a nine-part series, with episodes VI to IX yet to be produced.A live-action television series is also being considered.I’m sure more related products like Star Wars t-shirts will accompany the television series.
