Wars Qui Gon
in star wars, who is the chosen one?
okay, in star wars, qui gon thinks anakin is the chosen one, but yoda says the prophecy may have been misread. But obi-wan says at the end of III that anakin was the chosen one. But in the end, luke is the one who brings balance to the Force? So which one is the real Chosen One: Anakin or Luke???
The “prophecy” of “The Chosen One” dates back almost 2000 years in the Star Wars Universe. The “prophecy” as stated by Yoda when he was about 600 years old:
“Fully defeated by just anyone, the dark side cannot be, but only by the Chosen One. And who might be this Jedi? Know I do not, but not yet born is he or she. This much, sense I can. A vessel of pure Force the Chosen One will be, more powerful than any Jedi in history”
I have searched starwars.com for hours on end trying to find the exact wording of this “Prophecy” but haven’t found anything. That leaves only what Lucas has told us and then educated guessing … however … research gives much weight to educated guessing.
My “educated guess” is that Anakin was the Chosen One, a fact confirmed over and over by Lucas, and that he was destine to fall to the dark side to fulfill his destiny and that in order to bring balance to the Force not only did the Sith need to be destroyed … so did the Jedi Order itself. Sounds crazy … not if you think about it for a bit.
How do you bring balance to anything by only destroying one side of the scale … answer … you can’t. The Jedi had become too “stiff” and seemingly arrogant. Common citizens had grown to distrust them and it all snowballed from there. In many ways this can be seen as one of the major reasons for Anakin’s fall to the dark side. The Jedi had no idea how to deal with emotions as they had been “phased out” in their view of reality and therefore they had no idea how to help Anakin deal with his emotions.
When Palpatine finally seduced Anakin to the dark side the stage was set for massive destruction. Order 66 was issued and much of the Jedi Order was destroyed. Most of the remaining Jedi were hunted down and killed by Vader. This basically left a dual “Rule of Two” … you had 2 Sith and you had 2 Jedi left. Notice how Luke’s “training” differed greatly with that of the “normal” Jedi way of old. Obi-Wan started Luke down the path and then sacrificed his life to push Luke to Yoda for training. Yoda basically gave Luke the “cliff-notes” version of Jedi training not wanting to “taint” him with the old way of training Jedi. Then Yoda dies. Now you have 2 Sith and 1 “New” Jedi … but wait … there was still one member of the “old” Jedi Order left … Anakin Skywalker. There was always a small piece of “good” inside Vader … that small piece of “good” was the spirit of Anakin but it was powerless to stop the evil that Vader had become … until he learned that he had a son. In the final battle on board Death Star II Luke defeated the evil of Vader but did not kill it. As Palpatine was “frying” Luke with Sith Lightning who did Luke cry out to for help … not Vader … not Anakin … he cried out for his father. As ep VI progressed you could see the little piece of Anakin gaining power inside Vader. The clearest proof of this is when Luke and Vader talk on Endor … Luke states “then my father is truly dead” … Vader’s reaction to that shows the conflict inside him. When Luke cried out to his father for help Anakin tapped into a power that can never be defeated … the power of the love a father has for his son. In that moment the brilliant presence of Anakin Skywalker flooded back into the Light side of the Force killing the Sith Lord Darth Vader. Anakin Skywalker then killed the last Sith Lord, Darth Sidious and then he died fulfilling his destiny of bringing balance to the Force by destroying not only the Sith Order but the “old” Jedi Order as well. This balanced the Force and allowed a new Jedi Order to rise from the ashes of the old in the person of the son of the Chosen One. Does this mean that the Sith were destroyed forever … no it doesn’t … you can’t have balance with only one side of the scale. The Sith and the Jedi are destine to battle each other until the end of time but with balance maintained the good of the Jedi will always prevail.
May The Force Be With You …

Giclée (pronounced “zhee-clay”) is an invented name for the process of making fine-art prints from a digital source using ink-jet printing. The word was coined to distinguish commonly known industrial “Iris proofs” from the fine-art prints artists were producing on the same printers. The name has since come to mean any high-quality, ink-jet print, and is often used in galleries and print shops to denote such. In the past few years, the word (as a fine-art term) has come to be associated with prints using fade-resistant “archival” inks and the inkjet printers that use them. A wide variety of substrates are available, including various textures and finishes such as matte photo paper, watercolor paper, cotton canvas, or artist textured vinyl. Star Wars Jedi Knight (Qui-Gon Jinn) Lightsaber $12.99 One lightsaber is better than two! Behold Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn’s weapon from Star Wars! Sword’s battery-powered green blade extends to over 3 feet. You can show Darth Maul a thing or two with this baby! One lightsaber is better than two! This appealing recreation is for costuming, however, and we wouldn’t recommend wielding it in another battle with the Sith. The simple “earthy” design of Qui-Gon Jinn’s lightsaber epitomizes this Jedi Master, right down to the green blade and round hilt. The blade extends to over 3-feet in length and is battery powered. Recreate your favorite scenes from Star Wars with the Qui-Gon Jinn Lightsaber from Rubies! 2x “AA” batteries required, but not included. Who can forget the epic Star Wars battle between Jedi Qui-Gon Jinn and Sith Darth Maul? Oh sure, a young Obi-Wan Kenobi joins his master Qui-Gon in battle, but it’s Qui-Gon Jinn who deals the fatal blow. The lesson of exhibiting meditative patience – yet being able to fight ferociously – is not lost on student Obi-Wan. He recovers the lightsaber of his fallen teacher in the hopes of imparting these same characteristics to his own student, Anakin Skywalker. Collector’s note: product is Qui-Gon Jinn’s Jedi Lightsaber, however the packaging may call it a “Jedi Lightsaber” and not name the character specifically. |
