Understanding Why LEGO Toys Are Popular
If you look at all the toys on the market today, one of the choices that continues to be at the top is Legos. Sure there are action figures, classic dolls, stuffed animals, cars and everything else, but with so many options it’s amazing we have a hard time choosing one for our child. Years ago it was a lot easier, because there wasn’t a broad spectrum.
You also have to consider the awareness we have today is a little bit different. We want to give our kids something that is fun, but educational at the same time. Then of course it’s important to be cautious about how the toy is made. After all, some are so cheap they break the same day you purchase them. You also want to make sure you invoke a sense of imagination when your child plays with these The whole idea is to find something fun for your kids so they won’t get bored. While this is true; you still want to make sure it’s educational and won’t break shortly after you purchase it. What it comes down to is you need something that will invoke your child’s imagination whenever they play with their toys.
This is where LEGO Toys come in. This is one of the spin offs of the original building toy, Lincoln Logs. Lego is a toy that has stayed healthy and strong, during a lot of different recessions, and is to popular because of the many different things you can do with LEGOS.
If by chance you’re not familiar with LEGO, they are one of the biggest building block manufacturers. You will find several different sizes, shapes, and even sets from various hit movies (e.g. Star Wars or Indiana Jones). In the beginning they only offered standard options, but thanks to the technology of today you can find a lot more options. Also, LEGO is very cautious about safety, so most of these toys are for ages 8 and older, such as the LEGO Star Wars Death Star.
If you’re wondering why LEGO Toys are so popular today, such as the LEGO Death Star, there are several reasons. Maybe you’re worried about breakage, the materials being used, or whether or not it’s educational, Legos eliminate this thought process all together. The best analogy we can give you is that they’re a lot like a 3-D puzzle. You see a picture on the front of the box, you get illustrated instructions, and eventually a masterpiece is born.
Kids have plenty to learn when they play with Legos. They are taught organization skills (separating pieces into piles), math (counting the pieces), and how to follow the instructions. If you allow them to create it on their own they will boost their self-esteem levels, feel more confident, and have the feeling of accomplishment. Then they get to play with it, and if the toy ever gets old they can create something new. So you never have to worry about boredom setting in, because they have the ability to build several different toys.
While Legos are extremely popular, you’ve probably heard of other options like Fisher Price and Duplo. If you want to mix and match these toys it’s fine, but you have to remember that they are not interchangeable. The majority of the companies out there in this industry won’t be compatible. The good news is; if you just stick with Legos you will have an extremely wide selection. In fact, you can even find the LEGO Death Star.
